baby update - week 13...

Well, it seems like every day is flying by! I am already 13 weeks and 3 days along, according to the doctor. I keep wondering if our date is off, but I guess it really doesn't matter since baby comes when he/she wants to!

April 1st is my next ultrasound, and they are going to try and see the baby's gender at this appointment. I am hoping they can tell us! I don't know why, but I am so anxious about it. I will be thrilled whether baby lovie is a boy or girl, but the waiting is driving me crazy. Plus, there are things I'd like to get, and I can't until I know whether pink or blue should be the color. :)

My ideas for the nursery are really starting to come together! I cannot wait until DH and I move into the new house and can start decorating. I've already found 2 gorgeous paint colors (one very light blue and one very light pink) for the walls that are baby-safe. I've also found some beautiful accessories online to match the fabric we have chosen. The picture of the fabric I put on here about a week ago is a little dark...the green is very light and soft. It’s not grass green or lime green like the picture shows. But I'm in love with the classic gingham print!

The baby registry thing is getting better. My mom has been a H-U-G-E help, and she has been extremely supportive in the choices I've made. She was a bit surprised that I wanted to use cloth diapers, until I told her to look at the kinds they make these days. Then she was amazed and happy I'm going to give them a try. It makes me feel proud that she thinks I'm going to be a good mom. I pray so hard that the Lord would lead DH and I by his Spirit in loving and raising our little one.

DH and I are definitely set on the names we have picked out. I know they are going to be perfect, and I can already see myself cooing and smiling at my little lovie while saying his/her name! We have also decided to not reveal the names until birth, though we will reveal whether it is a boy or girl!

So, little lovie is growing like a weed! Just in case you are wondering why we say Little Lovie or Baby Lovie - DH and I nicknamed each other Lovie since we started dating. No, we don't say it like The Millionaire and his Wife from Gilligan's Island. Usually it’s much cuter than that, haha.

This week, our baby is the size of a peach (a very small peach!):

Right now, baby is forming teeth and vocal cords (which will come in handy for the 3:00 "time-to-feed-me" scream!). Baby is approaching normal proportions, with a head now only one third the size of the body. The intestines are in the process of moving from the umbilical cord to baby's tummy. Also, baby now has its own set of fingerprints which are unique only to him or her! And, all of baby's veins and organs are now visible through the thin skin covering his/her body!

So, how am I doing? Actually, I am starting to feel really good again! I've got energy back, and since I've gotten off of the progesterone pills, I have not had an ounce of morning sickness or nausea. I'm really wondering if I would have had any nausea/sickness at all without the progesterone pills, but I am glad the doctor made me take them.

A new symptom is lower back pain, though it is not horrible. It mainly feels like light cramping, so I am still able to stand up and teach for many hours a day.

My newest craving is ice-cold Coca-Cola. Now let me just tell you - I have not had any soda/cokes, except Sprite or Sprite Zero, in years. But the craving is crazy. I drank a whole 2-liter bottle of Coke the other day, and it tasted delicious. I'm still craving anything with hamburger. Also, I am loving spaghetti, but the thought of any white cream sauce (like Alfredo, one of my usual favorite things), makes me sick! And I'm starting to be hungry all the time.

And lastly, the tummy is getting much bigger! Not enough to set a Coke on top of the belly (haha), but enough to where it pokes out of all my shirts. DH thinks it is the cutest thing ever. I just feel like a moo cow. But I am starting to get excited about wearing cute maternity clothes. I bought a whole summer wardrobe off of eBay for $50 (we're talking 20 pieces of clothing), and they all look brand new/never worn!!

Finally, March 22nd is my and DH's 2-year wedding anniversary!!! I really cannot believe that. It feels like it should only be our 1-year since he was gone for a whole year with the military. However, we are extremely happy and grow in our love every day. To celebrate, we decided to go camping in Arkansas for several days next week (since it is my Spring Break). I can't wait to sit in a boat and fish all day, haha. We'll take lots of pictures!

Well, that is it for now. Don't forget to vote boy or girl on the right! Thanks to everyone who reads and writes super sweet/encouraging comments. God bless. +

If it makes you feel any better about your craving, the Caffeine free coke tastes just like the regular! :) That's what got me through because I love Coke and I craved it too! (Although I did have one caffeinated beverage a day!)
Have fun camping. We haven't gone in a long time, but I'm hoping we can this summer... I bet you look cute with your preggo belly! :D

Hey there. Congrats on the upcoming "Baby Lovie". I stumbled upon your blog from twitter. I noticed that you were planning to use cloth diapers, so I wanted to send you a word of encouragement and let you know that we have successfully used cloth diapers up until this point. Our daughter is now nearly 19 months old and we are so happy we stuck with them. Though intimidating at first, and somewhat awkward to get used to...soon they will fit beautifully into your lives and you'll feel proud to make it!! Good luck in all of your parenting adventures! Oh yes...and camping too (we live in NW Arkansas).

Yay! Good luck with the move!!! We are moving this month also, into our new house. I can't wait to set up the nursery also, though it might be a little while yet until "I have everything ready to go. :) Thanks for the comments on my blog - they are always SO encouraging. Have a great day and God bless!"

Thanks so much! It went well! :)
I am glad I can help! Sounds like everything is coming together with your little one! I was nervous about the ultrasound too, but it went so well, and was fun. Don't worry too much!
