It feels so incredibly weird and wonderful to say baby "boy" now, even though he is still my little lovie!! After so many people said girl (around 8 said boy, though one of those people went back to girl at the end, so technically 7), I went into the ultrasound expecting to see girl parts. But deep in my heart, I felt like I had a son. When the doctor said boy, after our acrobat baby did a sommersault on the ultrasound screen (haha), I was in total shock. DH says my eyes looked like they were going to pop right out of my head. I kept asking the doctor if he was sure...90%? 95%? 100%??? He said 100%!!! He was so sure that immediately after the ultrasound, we had to go sign paperwork saying we wanted a circumcision, haha. So, yes, we definitely having a boy!
So, this week, baby boy is the size of a large mango! Cha-cha-cha-cha-cha-changes...baby boy is going through SO many changes! The first thing is that baby is no longer just moving around in there...he is outright kicking! I felt him last night while eating dinner, and I know it was a little foot in my side. :) Also, little man's sensory development is exploding! His brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. He can hear my voice now without it being too muffled, so I have been talking to him a lot! His arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of his body now. Baby lovie's kidneys continue to make urine, and the hair on his scalp is sprouting! And finally, a waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on his skin to prevent it from pickling/pruning in the amniotic fluid.
How is Mommy doing?
Well, for one, she's getting bigger:
Where did THAT come from??? Seriously, some days I wake up and am shocked by the extension of my stomach. It's really quite odd to see, but even more so since documenting it in a few pictures, haha.
I have a pretty good amount of energy right now, though I still need an afternoon nap after I get home from work. But I am not dragging the way I was before.
It seems my immune system continually stays low. I am feeling under the weather again, mostly due to pollen and being around dirty middle schoolers all day. The "I-sound-like-a-60-year-old-smoker" cough is back, but it is not nearly as bad as it was when I had the bronchial infection. Let's just pray it doesn't get worse!
I don't really have any new "symptoms" of pregnancy than I did before either. No new food cravings. My ravage desire for Coca-Cola has gone down some, but I still want meat. And NO cream sauces, like Alfredo and such. I love to snack on healthy things throughout the day. My favorite seems to be nuts, especially almonds and cashews. Also, I think peanut butter and apples are amazing. And any other kind of fruit is awesome.
My hips hurt a lot at night because of sleeping on my side so much, even with the body pillow. And they hurt during the day. Darn round ligament pain. Oh well, baby boy is worth it!
Oh, I finally ordered the crib for the nursery! Sadly, the sale for the combo set with the crib and dresser was over, so I just ordered the crib. We are going to take 2 dressers that we already own, sand them down, re-stain them to match, and put new handles on the drawers. I think they'll look great, and it will save us some money!
Also, I made the decision to resign from my teaching position so I can stay home with the baby after he is born. This has been something DH and I have prayed about for months now. It is going to be hard, but I know it is right. Plus, this gives me the chance to re-open my soap business again, and I have really missed that!
Finally, we officially close on our house this Friday!!!! All I can say is, it's about time! DH and I are so relieved. The lover-ly government has made it as difficult as possible for us to buy this house, and why, I have no idea. It's not like we want to live in the Taj Mahal. We used a VA loan, so I'm sure that has something to do with it. But at least we still get the first-time homebuyer credit and can make a few changes to the house. :) Thank you to those of you who prayed!
That about wraps this blog-post up. I hope everyone who reads this is blessed today and the rest of the week. +

Congratulations on your little man! How exciting to know what it is. I found out with both of my kids and considered it my made-it-halfway reward. :-) Hope you are having fun finding little boy things now.
